Prayer Requests
Updated 9/9/08
God has a good, loving, and productive purpose for scheduling waiting periods into the prayer process. When He has called on you to wait, it is because the wait is necessary to the outcome. He is doing something during the waiting period that He could not do without it.
“I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I put my hope” (Ps. 130:5).
I know it has been literally months since we sent you a prayer update… believe me, it’s not that we don’t need your prayers.
The last one that I sent focused on our son, Nathan, who was serving in Afghanistan with the 82nd Airborne. Just to catch you up on things, he is now home, God heard your prayers and he is safe. He married Krista Bondurant on June 14, 2008 and the happy couple are living near Atlanta, GA. Pictures of the wedding can be found on the family photo page.
Debbie’s mom, Dorothy, is still not well and suffers lots of pain, but has been able to remain at her home for almost a year. That is a miracle due to the answering of your prayers by the Lord.
Please pray for our daughter Noelle, whose wedding to Brian Patterson is to take place on Ocean Isle Beach, NC on Sept 27. We are all thrilled and looking forward to this great day!
Debbie has completed several classes now at the Southern Evangelical Seminary and is almost finished one other. Pray that God will use this time to equip her for whatever ministry that she may have in the future, whether it’s teaching a Bible class or working with Bible translators. Pray for her stamina as she continues these studies and helps care for her mother and prepares for this wedding as well.
All three of our children are in or soon will be in some sort of school. Brian is at NYU working toward an MS/MBA, Noelle is at CPCC working toward an AA in Paralegal; Nathan is going to Atlanta Inst. of Music. Pray that they will each use these classes to better themselves as they move into careers in which they are uniquely gifted to excel; that they will be successful at whatever the Lord puts in their paths.
Pray for the 15 Prefield people that I released since our last prayer update. They are serving in places such as Tanzania, Uganda, China, JAARS, Dallas, Indonesia, Ethiopia and Papua New Guinea. Please pray also for the 13 people who have applied to join Wycliffe; for wisdom as I work with each of them through the application process.
As always, we appreciate each of you who pray… to be a partner with us in this way is extremely valued and we appreciate you!
